My Creative Space

My creative space has been all about spending time with, or in, other people's spaces this week.

Other people's creativity can be so inspiring, I spent some time yesterday at a friends property where they are building a house, themselves! The house is amazing and the detail is so impressive, it's going to be a wonderful home for this dear family. I can't wait to hang out on their verandah, looking into the grey green bush and drinking cups of tea.

My kids are always inspiring me too. Rosie has been making toilet roll creatures. Meet Seenor, in the middle, and Cat & Dog. Behind her is a milk carton rocket.

Rosie plays and plays with these creations...

...I love the face on Dog.

More inspiration came from Betty, who volunteers at our local opshop. (She is also the mum of 13 kids! And the grandmother of Billy's mate, Harry.) Betty gave us a huge bucket of peaches from her garden. Stewed peaches...so delicious.

And look what came in the post this morning! A fantastic teatowel and keyring from Nic at Yardage Design! I popped in to her Etsy shop recently as I wanted a foodie type present for a friends birthday, and I've always fancied Nic's beautiful work. So in a minute I'm off to give my friend her pressie over coffee at Cliffy's, I know she is going to LOVE it! (Great presentation too Nic, very impressed)

The weather had been pretty creative too lately. We seem to be living in the tropics here in Daylesford at the moment! The day started off blue and sunny yesterday but then turned to this...

The skies opened and the whole world seemed awash with rain. More rain dancing and lots of amazing thunder & lightening.

And two happy ducks!

So that's me folks, a little bit everywhere and feeling happy sharing in other's creative worlds.

Speaking of which I'm looking foward to the new craft group that's starting up in Daylesford! Handmade will be kicking off in a couple of weeks so watch this space if you are local and interested in coming along. It will be a fun, relaxed, friendly, evening where all are welcome. I'll have more details over the next week!

For more creative spaces pop over to Kooyotoo!

Hope you are having a happy, creative day xo

Lovely creativity. Boy, you got some rain. We didnt get any over here in the outer eastern suburbs. Fingers crossed for today though. Your new group sounds very exciting. Daylesford is really the crafting capital now, isnt it?

I wish we'd had some rain! None for us either.

I think spending time with other creative types is the very best source of inspiration.

We got heaps of rain and the thunder was so loud I had to let our kelpie into the garage so he would stop stressing out! It seems Daylesford is getting very crafty now which is just fantastic. I love Rosie's toilet roll creatures too, very cute!

Recently we turned our house upside down and inside out to provide middle kid with his own bedroom. The Mr and I did an excellent job(!). After introducing kid to his new, very excellent surrounds, he took it all in and then with a great beaming smile said "Thanks for not throwing away my toilet roll collection, Mum."

I'm in love with the toilet roll creatures, is there any better craft than kid craft- I don't think so.

What a great post, with a bit of everything, Beck. Lots of people build their own houses around our area, and it's always so interesting to see what they make of it. Your friends' views are stunning!

I am a big fan of Cat and Dog. I can imagine our Son 2 playing with them for a long time too - lots of little squeaky conversations and dramatic sound-effects.

Would it be awfully petty to admire your plates? I'm mad for blue and mad for flowers, and there you've got both!

Creativity is a great big circle-we are inspired by others and we inspire them. I am looking forward to peaches in about six months! Loved the post -family life is really creative.
