Waking up in Hepburn...

This morning I woke up at my my mum's house, in Hepburn. The beautiful old school house/church is so full of light in the morning & it was lovely to wake up gently, taking my time to get up & into the day.

I like being in this space, it's so ordered, colourful, unchaotic! I have had a difficult month with being sick and not feeling great so it was so nice to have a night away. It's hard to recover when you are in the midst of a busy family, there isn't much time to recuperate.

Perhaps the years of small children & all that goes with them is catching up on me a bit. I feel tired alot lately.

Anyway, I enjoyed looking at the colour and light in mum's garden, it's a really happy place to be.

How is your Easter break going? We've been hanging at home mostly, I've been sewing and putting bunnies together.
Oh and washing a whole heap of gorgeous sheets & linen that I found in Ballarat last week. I love hanging clean sheets on the line in the sunshine.

Today was fun, I took the girls to a fete at Little Hampton, a tiny nearby town.

It was the smallest fete I've ever been too. Two small tables with a few bits & pieces and two lovely ladies who may be half the population of Little Hampton!

We had Devonshire tea which went down well of course,

and then headed home through the bush.

Not before we bought four big bunches of lavender...

and some local spuds.

The girls had a play & run too, whirling and spinning in the sun.

I hope you have had a happy few days, have you been with family or someone you love? I'll leave you with a photo of us all. It's so rare to get us all together for a photo. We took this after our annual egg hunt so maybe it will become a tradition! Hope all is well with you sweeties, see you soon xo

Sounds like a lovely way to spend Easter......in the country, at Mum's, breathing in the fresh country air, relaxing, and rejuvenating.

Hope you're feeling on top of the world in no time!

Nothing like 'home to Mum' especially when it means waking up slowly. Hope you found some TLC to get you through the week. NOW GO TO BED EARLY! (I honestly can't believe I typed that last bit. Breathtaking hypocrisy, that).

Hope your feeling more energised soon Beck! I cant imagine how tired you must feel looking after such a big family! I love the family photo, how wonderful. Your mum's house sounds like a nice little retreat to get away from it all.

what a gorgeous big spunky crew you have created! it is truely amazing that such a big gang has come from little you. all those momentous pregnancies and births and then the countess acts that have followed to sustain 5 little people. no wonder you are knackered! and you do it all with such style and panache. great to hear you have had a well deserved moment - could hardly be enough i imagine.hope you get your sparkel back sooon xx

Your mums house looks beautiful and serene...a perfect place to recharge your batteries! Just saw the photo of your quince jelly in the last post and I'm very tempted to make some...don't know if it will come out looking like yours though!

Oh, your Mum's place is gorgeous - and 'hurrah!' for waking up slowly, in quiet and calm and ORDER.

Life with small kids is anything but slow, quiet, calm and orderly... so enjoy, and I am glad you had a lovely Easter.

Beck my GORGEOUS book arrived this morning I can't begin to describe how I feel, the book is so beautiful and sooo much bigger and heavier than I anticipated so I feel a bit guilty it cost you so much in postage! Your mum has done an incredible work, it is stunning. I did find you peaking out on page 42 very cute indeed!!! Thank you to you and to your mum so very much. I am off to make a pot of tea and sit down with my new book!
ps I hope you are feeling better, maybe you need a sleepover at your mum's once a month for time out xx

I love the photos, they are beautiful. The garden looks a bit greener than our pots on the balcony...
About the dress: I modified the pattern a bit to better fit my little princess, but I can send you the original pattern if you like. Have to do it before Tuesday next week though, as I'll be off home to Sweden for two months after that. Can't wait....

A little 'unchaotic' time sounds really great! It is very hard to re-coup in a busy family, I hope you feel reinvigorated soon.
P.S. Wonderful photos!
