My Creative Space

My space is a little ears up & crazy lately but I'm finding inspiration from all over...dreams, my kids, blogland, real life, our ducks, the clouds and the landscapes of the country where we live. Taking photo's is a great release for me and I get alot of happiness & satisfaction from capturing what is ordinary or unusual, shapes & shadows, faces & places, patterns & moods.

Things that move me or show me something in a different light. I'm also really hooked on sky, maybe I should have been a bird.

But it's good to just sit and make something too. Yesterday I suddenly felt the need to make a bunny for our new nephew, Finn.

A bunny without button eyes, sort of flat and soft, not too firm. I chose some beautiful grey alpaca blanket & teamed it with green & white spots.

I've been putting Green bunny together while staying at this girls house...

She has jetted off to Singapore for the wedding of a friend. Sunday & Lucy & I are staying over night and having some Girl Time, city style.
School holidays can be pretty consuming but I have managed to squeeze in a bit of sewing whilst carrying lots of creative thoughts in my head. I'm still loving the idea of making some scrap quilts and have been gathering bits & pieces from my collection of vintage fabrics. I've also added to the collection lately with some great finds from some super duper ace op shops. I'm loving country op shops and am thinking of putting together a book/guide to the op shops of country Victoria. Do you think I could handle the research? I reckon I could...
Ok, so I've also been wearing my red shirt and feeling pretty....electric! Red is not the colour to wear when you are wanting to hide from the world. It does do wonders for your spirits though! I encourage you all to get that dirty white item out of the wardrobe and into the dye pot. Pronto!

Meanwhile this little lady has been finished and has been sent off to her new home. She has a little necklace with her initial on it and an extra pair of pink knitted shorts. I hope she arrives safely and gets lots of cuddles.

So that's it from me this week...what are you up to? I'm off to check out lots of other creative spaces now...I really look forward to Thursdays, I love the variety & originality and of course the camaraderie of MCS, it always make me smile. Hope you have a happy day, see you soon xo

I like the green bunny, he is gorgeous! I'd love an op shop guide to Country Vic, then I'd have some idea of where to daytrip!

Ah, you've got that positive vibe going, nothing can faze you. I can feel things happening for you. (I can be psychic and relaxed)
I agree with the op shop guide. My holy grail at the moment is Daylesford, and if I ever get there I must opshop! I was thinking the same thing for this area as I travelled south the other day. (but then I thought mean, selfish thoughts about not sharing with strangers)Do you want to go national? xxNick

The holidays are a bit of a juggle. Glad you've managed to squeeze in a bit of bunny making along the way.

Seriously Beck, do you really want all your gorgeous op-shops to be over-run by city creatives? They'll be hiking the prices in no time!

I wear lots of red. I agree about the spirit-lifting.

Your bunnies are adorable as always. The nephew-version is very sweet.

Love your bunnies and your creative space. The little "Mum" floor mosaic (didn't know how else to describe it!) is too cute. I was inspired by you (thanks!) to make cardigans for my daughters' Easter bunnies last weekend but didn't have time to knit them so cut up and restitched an old felted sweater and added embroidered carrots to their pockets. I love the green you used in the cardigan for the last bunny. So cute!

love those bunnies, and your blog. It's such an extension of your creative space! That op shop guide is an absolute must. you could prob apply for an arts Victoria grant to help pay for the research if you put a craft/art/design spin on it. - Ramona

Even though I'll probably never get there, I'd love to read your op shop guide - I've got a bloggy one of Edinburgh, and I REALLY enjoyed doing it. There's something very satisfying about reading about other people's charity shops. Love the red shirt and the green bunny, too!

Hi Beck....I really need to do some dye-ing....I was thinking of you today when I was contemplating a white top i had on and how it would look a whole lot better if it was indigo. Enjoy the last few holidays xx

Your bunnies are so stinking cute.

I agree with the whole red not letting you hide bit. It's a sassy and look-at-me colour, but you're also right that it can make you feel bold and beautiful.

You make such beautiful bunnies. Both are really sweet.
I love the sky too... especially when it is such a vibrant blue. Easy to smile under a vibrant blue sky.
