Time away

Mark & I had a mini break in the city this weekend. Here we are looking pretty pleased with ourselves. We started off smiling, and just couldn't stop the whole weekend, it was just so lovely to spend some quality time together.

We took this little smiley sweetheart with us for a mega sleepover
with her best city girlfriend.

Melbourne was lively and bustling and colourful and exciting.

We walked alot which was great as I'm trying hard to exercise more. It was a good move leaving the car at home & getting the train as everything is so accessible in the city and you get to see more things. Such as people spinning on their heads!

And funny public transport advertisements!

And amazing chalk art.

I'm not that into art that copies art but you have to admire this guys talent and persistance. I did wonder what happens if there is a sudden downpour...

We wandered down the lanes of Melbourne, enjoying the european feel and ate delicious food at one of the little cafes. Later, on another coffee/cake mission, we bumped into a gorgeous friend from the Napier Hotel days...Trish!!! Wow!!! How amazing it was to see her after all these years and she is just, exactly the same. Lovely, funny, bubbly and totally Trish. I hope she comes to visit us sometime.

We had a fantastic time staying at the Grand Hyatt, (thanks to lastminute.com.au)
along with alot of the stars of the Australian Open! Mark was spotting them left, right and centre - Marco Baghdatis, Anna Huntchakova & lots of other fancy pants tennis players.

In the evening we went out to dinner at Becco in Crossley Lane. Delicious food (again), yummy wine. And actual uninteruppted conversation! Remember that?? One of the nicest things about our weekend was talking at our own pace, without doing five million other things at the same time, without making snacks, negotiating, soothing, etc. You know what I mean. It was lovely to have a break and slow down and be together. Not Mum and Dad, just Beck and Mark. Sleeping in till 10.30 was pretty ace too.

Looking glamourous in the lift. Those tennis players didn't know what hit them when we rocked into town.

And yes, of course it was great to get home. Charlotte did a wonderful job looking after Rosie. They went out for baby chinos, played games, did their nails and made cupcakes. The other kids had fun too and there were lots of cuddles and excited explanations of what they had been up to. It's always fun going away but I really love being at home. I missed the kids of course and I'm looking forward to lazy, possibly crafty, hopefullly fun days with them this week.
What are you up to? See you soon xo

Should be my turn in July with my husband - 2 weeks overseas, after 6 months apart, i'm already planning what to pack for the children.
I bet it was really special to see your children again, love Posie
