Max is feeling the heat. We all are...and with more super hot days on the way it's summer alright!
We have one more week of swimming lessons, the kids are learning alot & having fun too. Not a bad place to be when there temperature is hitting 40 degrees C! (that's 104 F)
This weekend has been great, although pretty bloody hot. On Saturday three of the kids and I headed out to a friends place for a fun day of eating, drinking, chatting and hanging out with a big gang of lovely people. These friends have a pool so the kids spent several hours jumping, splashing and generally having a ball. On the way we dropped in to my mum's place.
I love these shiny red plums, they look like pretty decorations hanging on the tree. Must pop back and pick some for jam.
I've also been working like a crazy woman trying to complete an order for Big Dreams in Northcote. I had a little hiccup and minor freak out when I realised I had misplaced (read lost) my small labels. Uh oh. Not happy. Anyway, after a bit of wailing and hair tearing I managed to work a way around it. Luckily I had over ordered my bunny labels, the ones with the little tugboat on them. These seem to work fine when folded over and sewn. A little bulkier than the small labels but at least they work!!
Liza from Big Dreams tells me the Love Hearts are destined to feature at a wedding this week so I'm pretty excited about that! I think they are being used as gifts for guests, I'd love to see how they will use them.
Because it was going to be such a hot day today I went out early this morning to make sure all the pets had water and shade. The ducks are in a good pozzie & don't get alot of direct sun.
Sometimes I think it would be nice to be a duck, swimming around all day. I'm not sure I'd like the pooey water though. Actually I have been bucketing it onto the garden and it's an amazing liquid fertiliser! The roses are loving it but I have to be careful not to splash any on my legs, it's stinkaroony!
Here's Lucy in the garden. The kids had a lot of trouble getting to sleep tonight. It's just so hot in their bedrooms although it's cooling down now. Tomorrow is a Code Red day in some parts of the state. This is an extreme fire danger day so lets hope for safe day with an early cool change. Better go now and sew up some more hearts, see you soon xo
ps. here are a couple of treasures I picked up recently. I'm not sure where to put them yet but I love their flowery, olden day feel.

Love your hearts! It is freezing here and we have been snowed in - I don't think I can imagine your heat!

Oh Beck, you can have some of our cold if we can have some of your heat! Everything looks so lovely there, yet do know what it's like not to be able to sleep for the heat, I just can't actually remember that at the moment...
So cool down well and look after yourselves. Lovely hearts BTW (of course)!
Actually okay about going to work today to be in air conditioning!! Our ducks water is revolting and it is a constant battle to have fresh water for the dog, they are in to everything!!!
Wow, your hearts look so lovely all grouped together like that. How exciting they are being used in a wedding, fantastic! It sure is going to be a hot one, too hot for beach & littlies I imagine so we'll be keeping cool inside for as long as we can...
Your hearts are lovely on mass - would be great to sneak in and see them set up for the wedding. Congrats!
Today is a good day to be a well -loved duck I think.
I hope its bearable...
The hearts look great - don't you just love photos of multiples...
Good luck with the heat & bush fire potential.
Those hearts are delightful, beautifully made.
We're off to the pool too, all 4 of mine can swim so i do laps & let them wear themselves out.
Love Posie
Oh Beck your poor Max! He looks just as hot as Max our cat and Jake our kelpie who are both black and seem to struggle more with the heat than the others too. We have been letting them all lie in the garage with lots of clean drinking water and a hose down (for Jake)! Those ducks do look very nice and cool and the pooey water would be doing wonders for your garden. I am thinking tonight I might pop some nice seasol on my plants to allow them to recover a little bit from the 43degree day! Staying inside sounds a much better idea, and I might attempt some sewing. Your hearts look beautiful.
Hey, keep cool today. I am enjoying reading all your summer adventures too.
we are sweltering here in clifton hill, hope you guys are surviving. so lucky to have a friend with a pool - best kind of friend in this weather (although too hot today for pool action unless you are a cute duck dammit). will be keeping my eyes peeled for your fab hearts next time i'm wandering the high st xx
i know which pool i'd rather be in...
beautiful Lucy photo..I hope you found a cool spot today...jeepers this heat is sizzling my poor garden.
What a blast of summer in the cold of our winter! Nice to remember other folks are having a summer fun, as we sit here freezing ... although to be fair, the temperature seems slightly warmer here- just above freezing rather than below!
I love the hearts & I hope they are for a wedding; what a lovely idea; so everybody at the wedding can take home some love!
ah loved your post, it seems really strange that your having such a hot summer I can't imagine it so hot, and here in the UK we're having the coldest winter for 30 years and can't cope with the amount of snow and ice we have! we've run out of grit and salt for the roads!! You send us a bit of heat and I'll send over some snow! take carex
Oh my! What a lot of lovely you have going on here :) The hearts are wonderful and perfect for a wedding. Those ducks are pretty cute too. And your flowery finds are very nice.
Just realized I never got back to you about the bunny, shame on me. We have gone into strict budget mode around here, so I may have to wait to order one from you. I will let you know. Thanks!
the hearts are gorgeous, how lovely they are going to be a special part of a wedding! :0)
I hope it cools down for you all soon, send some of it over here for us please!
: )
I adore your black cocker. I miss mine so terribly. We lost him last year. Hope the heat stops for you.
