My Creative Space

My creative space today is all about looking for creative ways to get through One of Those Days. You know those days when the minutes drag, you just want to be in bed or just Somewhere Else? Rosie is happy painting though while I have another cup of tea to keep awake.

Yesterday was a long and not so fun day with Bill having his dental work done, thanks everyone by the way, for your supportive comments. Isn't this one of the nicest things about blogging? The sense of community & caring is amazing. Bill came through it all well, although he was pretty distressed when he came out of the anaesthetic, but he seems fine today. I hated all of it and found it very unsettling. I really feel for people whose children have ongoing medical issues, it must be so tough. Anyway, today is another day but after a disturbed night with Rosie having nightmares I am feeling pretty ordinary.

There is quite a racket in the garden which is proving to be a good distraction. Tiger the rooster is being very creative with his new found cock-a-doodle-dooing. He is practicing religiously and calling out to the girls in the other coop. Maybe he is also calling out a mourning song as sadly his mumma, who was not well, died yesterday morning. The kids and I talked about her lovely attributes and said a little prayer for this funny old feathered chook. She was a great mum to her little ones and kept them warm and safe. She was so sweet to them and let them sit on her back when they were small. Farewell Mamma Chook.

On a happier note I'm excited to tell you that Daisy is a reformed character. Her chook chasing/killing days may be over. I never thought I would say it but I think I can actually leave her out now and not worry about a potential massacre. Perhaps she is growing up. She really is a dear dog. This is her practicing restraint.

I may have mentioned that I am in the middle of a big order of Love Hearts for a shop in Melbourne. I've really been enjoying cutting out the heart shapes and picking out an interesting mixture of fabrics.

Speaking of fabric I wandered into an op shop in Ballarat yesterday while I was waiting for Bill & happened upon four beautiful, mint condition Australiana tea towels. Oh happiness! Just what I need to add some colour to my latest batch of Love Hearts.

It's been a busy week this week with Book Club last night & my course starting on Tuesday night. Tomorrow I am meant to be off to week garlic at Callawadda but I'm thinking it might have to wait till next week. I really need a day at home, sewing and getting ready for the weekend. We have the Swiss Italian Festa starting on the weekend in Hepburn Springs and the kids will be in the Grande Parade and performing with their school in the concert. It's a great festival, if you are looking for something to do you can access the program online. My brother and family are also coming up to visit which will be lovely. Sunday is going to a Cupcake party & a Fairy Tea Party too so that should be fun. I'm off now to have a look at some other creative spaces...Hope you have a great, creative and happy weekend too. See you soon xo

How great that Bill came through it all so well. My friend's son had 3 teeth pulled and didnt come out of it very well, a bit stressed so pehaps it is a common thing. I love your hearts, beautiful colors you chose. How sad that your chook passed away, but I am sure she had a fantastic life and the rooster must be practicing for later on. We used to have chooks and loved them. I hope your doggy behaves too which I am sure he will. Dont they stay in the puppy stage for about 3 years. We dont have any other pets as I am always worried that our jack russell would do something to them. The cats are okay because they used to pull her in line if she annoyed them. I hope you have a fantastic time too on the weekend with your family, and cant wait to hear how the parade goes.

Cool hearts. When I was a kid it I loved getting my hands on those special craft scissors that would cut those diamond edges.

I love the tea towel finds. I understand what you are going through with the dental work. My daughter went in yesterday for 5 crowns and a root canal. I was a mess but she was so brave. We love our kids so much don't we?

Lot's going on!!! Those hearts are darling in every way :)....

I had to have surgery to remove my wisdom teeth less then a month after Hubby left for Iraq..They damaged the nerves so it took me two months to recover..Not fun..That's so great that your little one did well for the most part and is back to normal...

My oldest has nightmares from time to time..I hate them because he never fully wakes up creeps me out..Hugs to you and that sweetie pie for having to deal with them..

Wow - great post - it is certainly all happening at your place. You're so lucky to live in such a beautiful spot. The hearts are lovely - nice fabric choices!

Not sure how I missed your last post, but am mighty glad that all went well with Bill. I know when the youngest had a go at slicing her finger off, that I spent a lot of the time in hospital riding a wave of 'god this is horrible' and 'yeah, but we can mostly fix this'. I really feel for any parent/kid who has to get their heads and lives around ongoing medical issues too.

I'm sorry about your hen, it's sad when they die. You've done really well with the dog, I don't let our dogs near the chickens when they are out. Just not sure they'd be safe, the dogs that is! Seriously my chickens chase the cats away.

I'm so glad it's over with your Bill. he looks so grown up and brave in that pic. Your hearts look great all laid out and colourful like that. Have you started sewing them yet? XX

Those photos of the hearts win my 'Eye Candy of the Week' award (newly invented!). Just fantastic.

I'm so glad it's gone OK for Bill. He'll be able to look back on it and feel he's had an interesting experience, I hope. I think you're doing really well for 'the day after' - when Son 1 came out of hospital last year, I was busy 'coping', and suddenly, with my mum newly ill in hospital too, I just crashed and had to spend the day in bed. Ben was going away that weekend and cancelled his trip because he was worried I wouldn't cope without him! So, if you are 'getting by' then you are doing well!

So glad Bill survived the dental work ok. Em had some fillings/crowns done under GA this year and I was so glad when it was all over. We now do A LOT of brushing and flossing and eat A LOT less chocolate!

Your hearts look just beautiful. All the most loving homes in Melbourne will soon have one!

I'm so impressed with your well behaved doggy. Ours goes nuts if he sees the tiny kitten next door. It's a bit embarrasing.

So glad all went well for Bill. I can't imagine how scary. A lady in my bookclub has a 5 mo. old in the hospital now with seizures and a brain bleed. He had to have surgery to reduce the swelling and for drainage. Horrible!!! He is doing better now thankfully but still in the hospital.

Thanks for thinking of my dad. I went to see him in the hospital yesterday and he is doing OK for now. I have to ask, what book did you read for your book club???

Lots going on... I'm glad the hospital visit is over, you're right, it's such a horrible and vulnerable time even if kids are just in for something 'routine'.
I too love the hearts, and the mix of fabrics is divine... I would love to be able to confidently place such ecclectic fabrics together and know that they look fabulous!

Thank you so much for your lovely comment on my blog Beck - it DOES look so much better than before - so much better that I was actually wondering what I was thinking buying the nasty old thing in the first place lol.

I just ADORE those wee hearts! my favourite has to be the one with the rainbow ending in a cloud... so cute!

Do you live near Ballarat? We are about an hour & a half away I think... we've only been once as Le Punk has an acute dislike of car rides!

Glad to hear your son pulled through ok. My daughter had to go under a general for some dental work too a couple of years back. It's so nerve wracking.
