My Space

Forgive me friends but you may find this post a little disjointed, a little all over the place. That's life right now and I'm finding space is sometimes hard to find. Or if it's found then which of the ten million things do you fill it with? Perhaps I should take a leaf out of Bill's book and just sit back, and finger knit.

High on the list of the things happening in my space this week has been KEEPING WARM! Yep, winter has come early here in the Big D and I'm all about hats and boots and scarves. I've got my eye on a pair of black Birkenstock boots, ooh, better start saving!  Cooking is all the go too. Apple crumble, made from our own back yard apples,

and jam drops, just a few of the things we have been enjoying.

Talking of food I took Bill & Sunday to the specialist this week for allergy testing. We already knew Sunday is allergic to peanuts & this was her last check to confirm this. Unfortunately she will have this allergy for life. An ongoing concern for us, and her.  Bill's test revealed he is allergic to cats, dust and most grasses and also shellfish! This we didn't know and it can also be very serious. He goes back soon for more tests to narrow down what particular seafood he is allergic too. Scary stuff.

The kids actually enjoyed the process and found some of it quite funny. It's Rosie's turn next week, fingers crossed it's straight forward

Ok, what else? New chooks, less ducks, busy Saturdays with sport & ballet. Two goals to Bill in his second game, go Billy!

And Shorty, having some Air Time. Turtles need this as their shells can get shell rot, or some such thing.

Two little girls who played happily for two hours after school today, sharing & working things out. Yay!

Anyway, see what I mean? My space is all over the place.  That's family life I guess. Not much bunny making going on..maybe next week? Hey, it's not too late to enter my giveaway! Daisy will be picking out a winner on Friday.

Sleep tight lovely friends, see you soon xo

My Creative Space

What's happening in your space today? I'm finishing off a couple of things and tweaking others. I'm feeling happy about my newest bunny and am more relaxed about the no clothes factor. What do you think?  I like idea of a slightly worn and much loved bunny being carried around and snuggled, clothes or no clothes. There's nothing better than seeing a little one carrying a Dandelion bunny, it makes me feel so good!

This week I finished a little cot sized quilt,

as well as starting on Sunday's quilt cover. Max thinks the whole thing is a bit of a yawn, bring on the chook scraps and hurry up, ok??

But Sunday likes the randomness of her new vintage linen doona cover, and doesn't seem to mind the inevitable.....

wonkiness.

Which is just as well as I noticed I put two of the same pieces of fabric too close together. Oh well, she's happy and that's all that matters.

And I'm happy that I finally have put a new bunny in the shop! Meet Clementine, above. And also that I am back into sewing again. Life is busy and there is so much to do all the time, it's nice to have some time away to sew and dream and create. Now I'm off to see what's happening in your space, see you soon xo

My Creative Space

Every month or so I head over to Creswick to the woollen mills for a rustle around in their bales of blanket offcuts.  I love the soft shades of fawn & cream & the lovely bunny grey but the best bit is you never know what colours you will find until you get there.

This week I was so excited to across a piece of beautiful deep red, amazingly soft alpaca!! Wow! I'm not sure how red bunnies will go down but you know what, I don't really mind as I'm just loving playing & sewing with this gorgeous, tactile, electric fabric.

Even the fringy bits!

My space this week has been busy & colourful & fun this week. New cute cardigans, baby chickens, brooch making, spring weather, visits to ace mates, brooch making, walking (yep, actual Exercise!), plotting Chrissie presents with a certain woman of the south (big secret) and a special trip to Melbourne to see my Just Finished Her Last Exam daughter! Woo hoo!

As she chatted on her new fancy phone I waited patiently in the glow of her pretty lanterns. Can you see that extremely happy and relieved look on Char's face? Yep, school is almost over.

Back at home I am in full market prep mode. I'm trying to keep my sewing space uncluttered so I have been sorting out, chucking out & re organising. Sunday helped me sort out all my threads today, giving high priority to the 'best' colours, ie: red, pink & purple, of course. My sewing table is nice and tidy now and I'm feeling inspired to finish up my bunnies & bits to take to Sugar & Spice in Ballarat on the 28th of this month.  I can't wait!! Lovely Ali has posted a little interview with moi on the Sugar and Spice blog, if you get a sec have a look!

What's happening in your space today? I'm off to Kirsty's for a sticky beak...see you soon xo

My Creative Space

My space has been a fun space lately. A thinking space. A colourful space.
At home I've been working on some new little projects...

..tweaking some old ones...

and matching up fabric & cardis.

I'm also enjoying the pieces of fabric that were trimmed from a new quilt & sewed up into long, long ribbons. They remind me of the rainbow snake, only a much skinnier version! There is something very pleasing about all those vintage fabrics mixed up together, they make me smile.

My space has also been a thoughtful space this week as we celebrate Charlotte's final days at school. Here she is, below, just after her Valedictory service, holding the book she was awarded. The girls were able to choose their books and Charlotte picked a childhood favourite, 'Tim & Charlotte' by Edward Ardizzone.

My space is an emotional & joyful place too this week as my baby turns 18 today.
I'm off to share a special lunch with her at our favourite cafe,
My space is full to the brim with love, for my big girl.
Is it really 18 years since she came into my life? All bright eyed and beautiful, my buttercup baby.
Happy, happy birthday Charlotte!
I hope to see some of your spaces to tonight when I get home, thanks for hosting Kirsty!
Enjoy your day lovelies,

see you soon xo

My Creative Space

My space is a Getting Ready kind of space this week.

Getting ready for Charlotte's school formal on Friday night. I'm looking forward to getting dressed up in my new silver frock & borrowed heels, to spending time with Mark sipping champagne & being fancy together in the Big Smoke, to being with my almost grown up daughter & her friends, to staying in a hotel in Melbourne.... to having FUN!!

I'm also getting ready to go on our family holiday this weekend. Not feeling too organised right now so lets hope it all falls into place.

So I'm writing lists, trying to remember all the important things I need to do like taking the dogs to the Dog Motel, picking up the car from the mechanics, sorting bunnies out for the shop, getting my hair done, mail collected, buying chook food, blah blah blah. But it will all be worth it when we get on that plane & jet out of the cold & into the warm arms of the Sunshine Coast. Yay!

Getting ready for the end of year markets & catching up with orders is also a work in progress. I've decided not to take any more orders now until after Christmas as I can't keep up! What's happening in your space? I'm a busy bee today but I hope to pop in and see lots of ace spaces via Kirsty, see you soon xo

My Creative Space

I had a really happy morning yesterday, sewing up the 15 fat quarters that I received in the Vintage Sheet Swap.

I added one more quarter to make it sixteen and then just sewed them all together, higgeldy piggeldy and the finished bedcover looks so sweet. It's added a bit of Spring to my Winter! I like the random nature of it, and it was so easy. Note to self though: next time make sure all pieces are EXACTLY the same size, ok?

I loved being part of the Australian Vintage Sheet Swap 2010, it was a really simple and fun swap and I received some lovely pieces. Thanks Ange!

After school snack yesterday...pikelets with maple syrup & rasberries. So simple and just the ticket when the wind is whirling & howling outside and it hasn't stopped raining for days.

I have been having fun too lately, matching up cardi's and fabric. One of my favourite parts of bunny making. I love this blue rose sheet that I picked up at an oppie on the weekend. Isn't it pretty?

I've had this little thrifted skirt for ages, just waiting for the right coloured cardi to come along.

Zappy green.

70's yellow & brown.

Sweet pale pink,

& rasberry roses.

And of course some purple too.
Now I better get busy with the scissors and sewing machine and whip up some bunnies for my new online shop! Have you visited yet? I'm so happy with it, keep an eye out as new bunnies are hopping in there all the time. By the way Blanket Bunnies have been $40 for over two years now and as the alpaca fabric is getting more expensive I will be making a price adjustment soon.

I'm off to visit some other spaces now, why don't you join me over at Kirsty's? See you soon xo
