Last night

Did I mention that we were off to Charlotte's Year 12 Formal last night? Here I am all glammed up and ready to head out to the pre dinner drinks. It was so much fun getting ready, and having some time just with Mark, no kids! You all know how much I love my kids but boy, oh boy, was it nice to have some grown up time. We stayed in the hotel where the Formal was being held so it was all so easy and relaxing.

It seemed like a million years since we had had some time alone together. Life can be kind of hectic with a big family, or with any family I guess, so this time away together was precious.

After we finished getting ready, Mark looking very dashing in his new suit, it was time to head off for pre dinner drinks. Our beautiful girl was already there, looking like an angel in her long, white dress.

She really was glowing, and so grown up. It doesn't seem that long ago that she was in kinder, and watching Play School, playing dress ups and living in a world of make believe.

Now she is almost an adult and soon will be starting the next part of her life.

This is Char & one her best friends, Liv, and Liv's lovely mother, Kerry.

Soon it was off to the Formal itself.

The night passed quickly in a whirl of champagne, dancing & fun. The girls all looked so beautiful in their colourful dresses, I loved watching them enjoying
themselves on this special night.

Mark & I had a fantastic time and of course the best bit was being there with our Charlotte. She has been working so hard this year and it was great to see her having a night off and celebrating her final year at school. Who knows what the future brings for her, new adventures and a whole new world. I'm so proud of her and so happy to have had such a wonderful night with her.

It was just the best fun I've had in a long time.
Thanks Char, thanks Mark, and thanks to you guys for all your well wishes.
I love sharing these times with you,
see you soon lovely friends xo

Oh i LOVE this post. My eldest is just about to start at a lovely private school for year 7 next year & i dream of her dressing up like your daughter for year 12. Just to be frank - so lovely to see a teenager looking beautiful & not trashy!! You know how i mean that, she looks like a young lady. I'm making a year 6 formal dress this school holidays, well not hemming it until the week before as they grow so fast at this age!! That white dress your Charlotte is in is simply beautiful. You look fabulous too, how exciting for your hotel stay. I can't wait for this next chapter in our lives, my girls in dressy frocks. My darling boy has already got year 12 formal dates lined up - for 10 years time. Love Posie

Oh Beck you look gorgeous in that beautiful dress! Charlotte looks ever so beautiful too. Nice to see you and Mark having some time together too, even with only 2 kids we find it mostly impossible to have time together!

What a beautiful post. I have a Charlotte too but she's 3 and so I'm still playing with dress ups! I can't imagine her being old enough to attend her year 12 formal but as everyone tells me, time just flys by. You look like a very proud mum and your daughter looks just beautiful in that gorgeous dress. Have a lovely weekend recuperating.

That first photo of you is just lovely.

Your daughter looks beautiful and I agree with Posie Patchwork, so grown up and lovely.

My eldest is starting High School next year so there's changes in the air for us as well. She seems to have grown up so much in just the last month.

Gracious! How dashing you and your entire family are. Your Charlotte thoroughly reminds me of Clare Danes at the ball in Romeo and Juliet, completely feminine and romantic - she just needs the little angel wings! And I LOVE your dress too - I want, want, want! Gorgeous!
