My Creative Space

What's happening in your space today? I'm finishing off a couple of things and tweaking others. I'm feeling happy about my newest bunny and am more relaxed about the no clothes factor. What do you think?  I like idea of a slightly worn and much loved bunny being carried around and snuggled, clothes or no clothes. There's nothing better than seeing a little one carrying a Dandelion bunny, it makes me feel so good!

This week I finished a little cot sized quilt,

as well as starting on Sunday's quilt cover. Max thinks the whole thing is a bit of a yawn, bring on the chook scraps and hurry up, ok??

But Sunday likes the randomness of her new vintage linen doona cover, and doesn't seem to mind the inevitable.....

wonkiness.

Which is just as well as I noticed I put two of the same pieces of fabric too close together. Oh well, she's happy and that's all that matters.

And I'm happy that I finally have put a new bunny in the shop! Meet Clementine, above. And also that I am back into sewing again. Life is busy and there is so much to do all the time, it's nice to have some time away to sew and dream and create. Now I'm off to see what's happening in your space, see you soon xo

My Creative Space

Two new bunnies in my space today. I love this two toned cardi, but it was tricky to find the right fabric to go with it.

It worked out well in the end & this little sweetie will be one of the first girls in my new online shop, which I'm hoping will be up and running by next week.

Blue Bunny Two is sporting a fancy moss stitch cardi, she is very gentle and kind. We all need a bit of kindness in our day don't we? Sometimes I look at my bunnies and they seem to look back at me so quietly & lovingly. It's good to pause during a crazy, demanding day and let that wash over me, as mad as that sounds.

Talking of mad things I've been making a hilarious creature this week. When I asked Rosie what she would like for her fifth birthday (I can't believe my baby is turning five) she replied,
"I think I would like a Rainbow Snake, please Mumma."

So of course I decided to make it out of vintage sheets & pillowcases in a kind of rainbowy way.

The first version was way too fat. After stuffing almost a whole bag of filling into a quarter of the snake I realised I had got a bit too excited.

So I did some unstuffing, resewing and restuffing. Phew. It still took a full bag of that Humpty Dumpty filling to satisfy Her Snakeyness.

I'm not sure if this is what Rosie had in mind when she requested a Rainbow Snake but I hope she likes it anyway.

How do you hide such a creature? Lets hope she does't find it before her birthday...

Fleamarket finds

I'm stuck in bed today sweeties, recovering from being a bit unwell.

To pass the time I'm looking through lots of lovely blogs and trying to cope with five indoor winter kids who are niggly and bored.

My finds are really not mine this week but were discovered by my boys on a recent road trip. Mark & Bill travelled up to a little town near Shepparton to visit James who manages a fruit orchard there. Can you imagine all the fantastic op shops they passed along the way?

They picked up some gorgeous sheets,

and this lovely linen Australiana tablecloth.

I think my favourite find was this pretty apron.
Have you found any lovely treasures this week?
I'm off to Sophie's for a peek,
see you soon

Fleamarket finds

Have you had a good week? A highlight of mine was making these delicious donut cakes that I came across via Pardon my Chaos. They are so good I'm making more today! I love to eat something sweet with a nice cuppa and my prettiest opshop plate.

A few weeks ago I bought my mum a cane couch & two chairs at a garage sale. Michelle kindly picked them up this week, thanks Michelle! They are now sitting on mum's new deck, waiting for some cushions, and someone to sit on them.

And for a sunny day!

On the way home from Melbourne on Friday I went through Bacchus Marsh and made a stop at three oppies. I found these sweet sheets which will be great for the Australian Vintage Sheet Fat Quarter Swap! I especially love the purple one & the spotty one, but they are all ace.

This is an old find, actually I think my dad found it as we have had this scooter since we were kids. I really should get it out of the rain!

A run to the tip shop yesterday was fun. There are about 8 boxes of books there at the moment, unfortunatley a bit rain damaged, but I came home with a pile of beauties. I've just started a crochet project so this book will come in handy! Did you find some treasures this week? I'm off to Sophie's to have a look, see you soon xo

Fleamarket finds..

Hi Thrill seekers! Do you like the overalls I found for a $1 at the Trentham Op Shop? Perfect for Bill who is planning to be a builder (and author) when he grows up.

I've had this unknown family portrait found at the MS op shop for a while but I finally got around to putting it up today.

Luckily I have a resident handy man who was only too happy to help.

Not a huge amount of time of shop the oppies this week but I did come across this ace basket today at the Tip shop. Perfect for storing firewood. It's definitely fire wood season, freezing & grey today.

Another bonus of heading up to Callawadda this week was stopping in at the Avoca Op Shop. This time I found some spare Swatch bands that will fit my watch..

and a nice pile of vintage linens.

This Australiana tablecloth is so special.

Nice and worn and soft & covered with gorgeous depictions of Australian flora, fauna & cities, it is a definite keeper. No cutting this one up, it's going straight on the table, well after a wash of course! One day I'll show you my whole collection of tablecloths, it's quite an addiction...

Hope you are having a great weekend, this is the last day of my giveaway so do enter if you haven't already. I'll be drawing out three winners tomorrow, how exciting!! In the meantime pop on over to Sophie's for more fleamarket treasures....see you soon xo
