Fleamarket finds

Morning! Do you like my strawberry calendar? The kids love changing the dates..

I just love it's beautiful red colour.

Are you having a happy weekend? I'm feeling a bit worn out and slightly flat as it's been a tiring week with some drama & stress so I'm taking it quietly today. F.F. is a great distraction, thanks Sophie!!
This is Teddy, Sunday's much loved, special mate. Teddy got her very own teddy, via a gargage sale I went to this morning. It was damp and misty and the road to Eganstown was icy, but I was glad I went because I found Little Ted, and an excellent cane couch & two chairs, for Mum's new deck.

Also from the garage sale was this ace doctors kit for $2. Rosie has been applying bandages, taking temperatures and tending the to sick and infirm with great tenderness.

I found her nurse's apron at Vinnies, now she just needs a little cap!

This sweet little jug cover wasn't found by me but instead found its way to me, a gift from my lovely neighbour & friend. Isn't it delicate and pretty? I love it,

Here is me trying to look foxy in my newly dyed, op shop dress. I'm loving this dress and the fun of taking something that's not quite right, and giving it a new look, all for a few dollars.

Finally, my dear Fleamarket Friends, I'd like to introduce you to my new craft basket.

She eyed me off at the MS Oppie and after a amall amount of money was exchanged we left quickly, arm in handle. She once carried sandwhiches and a thermos, with the odd bottle of vino on special occasions. She probably also saw her fair share of lamingtons and waxy paper but she is moving on, to a new world. A world where partly made bunnies will be popping out of her round bits, and fabric and needles and pins will be packed away under her lid. I can't wait to take her for a test run at this weeks craft night!

Have you had any good finds lately? I love popping around, via Sophie's, to see what you have found. Have a great week sweeties, see you soon xo

Fleamarket finds..

Hi Thrill seekers! Do you like the overalls I found for a $1 at the Trentham Op Shop? Perfect for Bill who is planning to be a builder (and author) when he grows up.

I've had this unknown family portrait found at the MS op shop for a while but I finally got around to putting it up today.

Luckily I have a resident handy man who was only too happy to help.

Not a huge amount of time of shop the oppies this week but I did come across this ace basket today at the Tip shop. Perfect for storing firewood. It's definitely fire wood season, freezing & grey today.

Another bonus of heading up to Callawadda this week was stopping in at the Avoca Op Shop. This time I found some spare Swatch bands that will fit my watch..

and a nice pile of vintage linens.

This Australiana tablecloth is so special.

Nice and worn and soft & covered with gorgeous depictions of Australian flora, fauna & cities, it is a definite keeper. No cutting this one up, it's going straight on the table, well after a wash of course! One day I'll show you my whole collection of tablecloths, it's quite an addiction...

Hope you are having a great weekend, this is the last day of my giveaway so do enter if you haven't already. I'll be drawing out three winners tomorrow, how exciting!! In the meantime pop on over to Sophie's for more fleamarket treasures....see you soon xo

Fleamarket Finds

I wasn't going to join Fleamarket Finds today, I thought I'd just check out other people's treasures instead. That was before I went to the Sunday Market with Rosie, and a little trip to the Tip Shop!!

The market was full of happy eople & sunshine, what a combo! I found this framed picture which will go nicely with similar ones in the sunroom.

Rosie had only one thing on her mind, besides donuts, and that was a doll head with brushable hair! Excitement. She came home and has spent a long time grooming this rather scary creature. Lots of hair clips and some serious brushing.

Today I spent a happy hour cutting out fabric for a vintage quilt, inspired by Red Chocolate's recent post. This quilt above was found at an oppy recently and is airing in the autumn breeze, out front.

Another market find this morning. A sweet ironing board & wooden iron.

As I was driving home from dropping Rosie at her friends house for a play a voice said to me "Go to the Tip Shop, there you will find treasure!!" I am so damn obedient, I went straight there! And yes, I found a little fire grate thingie for the fire place (night's are cold in these parts) & an ace box of coloured blocks.

And a fabulous box of vintage books!! I was going to just buy a couple but at $1 for the box it seemed like a bargain. Have you been treasure hunting lately? I'm going to have a squizz via Sophie's gorgeous blog. Enjoy your Sunday, see you soon xo ps: come see me tomorrow, I'm feeling a giveaway coming on....

Lots of fun in the oppies this week. Sweet red potholder,

and a cheap & cheerful blue swing!

This lovely red dress, perfect for one of the girls for next summer. I love the rosie trim.

A tiny basket for my basket collection.

A cute toy clock that teaches kids to tell the time. My kids are all abit in need of this!

Cuckooo!!!

And my favourite find, this blue & white spotted bag.

Not sure why but I just love it,

the shape, the dots,

the blue & white,

Tip toe, through the tulips...

Trash & Treasure...three of my favourite words.

That's where I found this lovely ukulele this week...isn't it cute?

I love it's sweet handmade cover. It's missing a string but otherwise is in great condition.

Another T & T find was this 70's photo cube. We had one, back then, with all our family in it, looking...well..very 1970's.

How cool is this old checkers box?

Beautiful wooden checkers.

And gorgeous illustrations.

When I was in Trentham on Wednesday I found this adorable vintage dolls dress.

It fits Sunday's doll, Emily, perffectly.

And has the sweetest detail.
Did you find some treasures this week? To see more pop over and visit Sophie xo

Fleamarket finds

A trip to the opshop is high on my list of the ultimate leisure time activity. I always find something, and I look for things that serve a purpose. Such as this canister above that will be filled with thread, or ribbons, or perhaps brooch making bits & my hot glue gun.

A little mouse came home with me too. She will be flying over to Vietnam shortly. More about that later.

I just love finding treasures and discarded beauties, it's one of my favourite things in the world. A great place to find interesting bits & pieces is the 'pet blanket' or 'rag' section at the opshop. This is where I found these lovely old faded linens last week. I think they may find themselves part of my my scrap quilt.

This old fashioned clothes hanger is so sweet too.

One of my best opshop finds would have to be my red Camper shoes. I found these quite a while ago and they are still my favourite shoes. They are a little worn now but when I found them they were in excellent condition, practically brand new, and only $3!! At first I thought one of the buttons was missing until I looked closer and saw that the button is linked to a silver thread & needle. I love them, they are my lucky sewing shoes!

Now I mentioned earlier that Little Mouse is leaving for Vietnam, she will be going along with a whole shipment of goods that are destined for an orphanage. I received an email recently from this lovely blogger who has put out the call for items that could help the children of the orphanage. The background story is very moving, her friend's husband served in Vietnam and is now very ill with cancer. He has a strong connection to this orphanage and is taking a shipping container of goods over when he next visits, with his four children. If you live in Victoria and have any good children's clothes or toys or some money you would like to contribute please email me and we can chat about pick up & bank account details. I can also forward you the photo's and details so you know more. For me I feel it is so important to give to those who need help and I couldn't be happier to be helping these children in a small way. This has given meaning to my opshopping adventures as I have been collecting lots of baby clothes and children's wear lately to add to my big bag bound for Vietnam. Pop over to Sophie's to check out some more Fleamarket finds, I hope you are having a happy Sunday, see you soon! xo
