I mentioned earlier in the week that our beautiful Emily duck had died. I spoke of her beloved, Henry, and that I was concerned about how he would be, without her, as they were a very close couple. (It turns out, as Rosie informed me, rather firmly, that Henry's name is actually Freddie, so apologies all round, from now on Henry shall be referred to as Freddie.)
Anyway, Freddie has been acting a little strangely.
I had a weird feeling I was being watched while I was sewing the other day. Can you make out a certain fella in this photo?
There he was again later.
And again.
Yep, he has taken to sitting (and often s#itting) on the back door step. And looking curiously through the window. What's going on Freddie? I'm thinking he's lonely and looking for company which is endearing but a little unnerving. And then there is also the issue of him trying to assert his male dominance, he has been rudely pecking the dogs on their bums and acting like a real tough guy. Will it all end in tears? I hope not.
Moving on from all things duck, I've been trying to sort out my room and came across these sweet prayer cards recently.
When in the op shop I love to look through cards and wrapping and papery bits, you never know what you will find. What's your first port of call in the oppie? Linens? Kitchenware? Furniture? What do make a bee line for?
I really love the soft colours of these cards and the beautiful face of Mary.
These little invitations are so gorgeous too.
Talking of gorgeousness I had the lovely surprise of a visit from Steph yesterday!! Her hair matches my camellia's! Woo! It was so nice to catch up with Steph and hear her news and just hang out over a cuppa.
Today has been a busy day and I'm feeling a bit wiped out. Must be the end of the week syndrome. This morning we planted fruit trees at school with all the different classes, lots of fun and the trees look fantastic. Then home for some sewing and a bit of exciting housework. (Not much to be honest.) Just finished this little bunny who will hop into the shop later, I love the colours in her skirt and ears and her pretty cardi. What is her name I wonder? Any suggestions?
Well it's Father's Day on Sunday so although the kids have made some ace cards I think I better go and get something extra for Mark. He is the such a good dad and I hope he has a happy day.
What are you up to on the weekend? Hope it's a fun one, see you soon lovely friends xo

Oh I adore Freddie! What a cutie, although I do hope he quits being a bully sooner rather than later.
Try to get a bit of a rest my dear, I had a bit of a break yesterday & oh my it did me the world of good!!
Your duck and puppy are so gorgeous! I don't think our dog would be that well behaved around a duck...
And great cards! What a find. x
Quack!
Freddie is cool but I can see how it would be unnearving being watched. I hope he cheers up soon. Maybe a new mate for him?

very interesting title ... i don't know whether i should admit to it catching my interest! LOL i love your friends hair colour too ... i so have never been brave enough to do something so interesting.
Poor Freddie, seems to be crying out for company. Do ducks get depressed I wonder? Or maybe he had been under Emily's thumb, and had to be at her beck and call!
I love the fabric on your sweet bunny too!
Maybe you should call her Emily in honour of your dearly departed.
I like Emily as well, have you had an Emily? Poor Freddie he does seem a little out of sorts...hope he stops bullying the dogs, he is being naughty and territorial there, he might decide the back step is his and then he will peck everyone if not put in his place! Choose the boundaries and stick to them :-)
Love that hair colour!!
Hi Bec. I looked up the blog from the card you gave me near the post office and am so impressed with your creative life. You have aesthetic flair and talent too. Have a good weekend...

Oh Poor Old Freddie, I'm with Vic, he's rather taken my heart. Poor old thing is lonely and acting out it seems.
Hope he behaves himself a little better soon.
hope you will be able to get some rest night and over the weekend. xo
Poor freddie, I think he is pining for his lost love.
It breaks my heart, he is such a beautiful gentleman duck, far too young to be left a widower.
What a sweet duck, I hope he's ok, sounds lonely. The Mary pray cards remind me of primary school!
Freddie is just LOVELY. I like how ducks look like they should be wearing ties and little suits. He needs a friend.
Maybe you should make a companion duck for Freddie! He does seem alittle lonely.
